​Zain Bahrain sponsors first female member of Zain Racing Team​

Manama – 19 November, 2016: Zain Bahrain, a leading telecoms operator focused on innovation in customer experience, announced that it will be sponsoring its staff member, May Al Haji as the first female member of the Zain Racing Team, as well as supporting her participation in other major competitions such as Ironman 70.3 and triathlon events.

Al Haji, a Marketing Specialist at Zain Bahrain's premium club, Zain Signature, is a seasoned athlete who has been playing tennis since she was 12 years old, representing Bahrain at the Arab Tennis Championships in 2001 and 2002, where she was the top ranking female, with Bahrain placed third overall. She took up running in 2012 and ran her first full marathon in January 2014. Her talent for endurance events led to her becoming the first Middle Eastern woman at Challenge Half Iron Distance 2014, and she completed her first full Ironman in New Zealand in 2015. She was the first Bahraini woman across the line at Ironman 70.3 Bahrain 2015, securing a coveted place at the World Championships at Sunshine Coast, Australia. She has served as a Board Member of Bahrain Road Runners since 2012 and was appointed General Secretary of the Bahrain Triathlon Association in 2013.

Zain Racing Team is Zain Bahrain's in-house team for all types of racing events, including automotive sports, running, cycling and triathlons.
