Zain Bahrain collaborates with Abdul Rahman Kanoo School for collection and disposal of e-Waste

Zain Bahrain, a telecommunications industry innovator in the Kingdom, has collaborated with Abdul Rahman Kanoo School for the collection and disposal of e-Waste as part of its ongoing commitment to creating a clean and green Bahrain through its 'e-Waste Recycling Initiative'. The collaboration with the school is aimed at encouraging positive changes towards e-waste disposal by raising awareness and promoting the recycling of e-Waste.

The 'e-waste Recycling Initiative', which falls under Zain Bahrain's flagship sustainability project, is a corporate responsibility initiative to promote environmental awareness and seek a solution to the growing amount of waste through responsible e-Waste management. As a responsible corporate, Zain Bahrain has continuously devised initiatives to bring about positive changes in the Kingdom in alignment with the United Nations Sustainable Development Goals (SDGs), particularly SDG 11 for Sustainable Cities and Communities, and SDG 12 for Responsible Consumption and Production. The company believes that such community engagements are crucial to educate the youth and instil awareness among them at an early age on how to responsibly dispose and recycle electronic waste.
Commenting on the collaboration, Shaikh Abdulla Bin Khalid Al Khalifa, Director of Communication & Investor Relations at Zain Bahrain, said, "At Zain Bahrain, we take recycling seriously, and our e-waste Recycling Initiative is one of our primary focuses. We believe each one of us is accountable for waste build-up in the environment. By implementing recycling plans, we aim to reduce the impact on the environment, raise awareness, and educate the public on how everyone can play their part by safely disposing of outdated electronic equipment, thereby taking a step towards a more eco-friendly society."

He further added, "We are glad to have collaborated with Abdul Rahman Kanoo International School to responsibly dispose of electronic waste. As a corporate, we look forward to continuing our contribution to the environment in whatever way possible by playing an instrumental role in transforming our societies through our sustainability projects in the Kingdom."

On the collaboration, Mr. Sunil Raj, CFO of Abdul Rahman Kanoo International School, commented, "We are delighted to have collaborated with Zain Bahrain on their pioneering 'e-waste Recycling Initiative', which is in line with the school's core value of Integrity, Service, and Respect for people and the environment and is also aligned with, His Royal Highness Prince Salman bin Hamad Al Khalifa, the Crown Prince and Prime Minister's contributions to the national development plan and initiatives as seen in Bahrain's Vision 2030. The initial collaboration with Zain Bahrain will see a collection of approx. 3500 kg of e-waste donated to the program."

He further added, "Zain Bahrain is highlighting the impact of e-waste management and the repercussions of recycling. We are pleased to reinforce their ecological values and commitment to the environment."

Zain Bahrain encourages students and teachers to bring in their e-waste which will be accumulated and disposed of in bins placed at Zain Bahrain's headquarters located in the Seef District. To learn more about Zain Bahrain's e-Waste initiative, visit https://www.bh.zain.com/en/cs/ewaste.
