Zain Bahrain Promises Seamless Transition to LTE

Work has begun on Zain Bahrain’s ambitious network upgrade to the region’s first Long Term Evolution (LTE) technology being delivered by Nokia Siemens Networks. This upgrade will enable Zain Bahrain customers to enjoy faster data downloads and enhanced customer experience, thanks to its transition to an all-IP, flat network through the introduction of Internet High Speed Packet Access (I-HSPA) as a first stage, and then the Middle East Region’s first Long Term Evolution (LTE) technology. The new technology is expected to vastly boost Zain’s state-of-the-art services through improved voice, data and multimedia services.

Zain trio make the top 100 of most influential global telecom leaders

Leading industry magazine Global Telecoms Business (GTB) has ranked Dr Saad Al Barrak in 20th position in its Top 100 most influential telecom executives for 2009, up nine places on his 2008 ranking. Two other senior Zain executives, Zain Africa CEO Chris Gabriel and the company’s Chief Business Development Officer, Salah Al Fouzan, were ranked 46th and 95th respectively. The rankings published by the London based magazine are yet another indicator of Zain’s growing influence in the international telecom sector and further evidence that the company’s bid to be a global top ten mobile operator by 2011 is gathering momentum.

Seef District, October 26, 2009: The reception area of Zain Bahrain’s office building in Seef turned PINK for a day when the company plunged into a day-long “Think Pink” campaign in support of Think Pink Bahrain and Breast Cancer Awareness. Staff joined in to create and sell pink-themed merchandise as a fund-raising activity. Items on sale included homemade food, pink flowers, pink bracelets, magnets, ribbons, mugs and Think Pink Bahrain merchandise in aid of the cause. The day’s canteen proceeds were also donated to Think Pink Bahrain which is spearheading efforts to raise breast cancer awareness in the Kingdom.
